Injured Kangan youth succumbs after 12 days at SKIMS

A 21-year-old youth, who was injured in government force action on demonstrators in Kangan in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal in the first week of April, succumbed at S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar on Sunday morning.
Official sources said that a youth, identified as Aamir Hameed Lone, who was admitted to SKIMS in a serious condition on April 3, succumbed on Sunday morning. “Lone was seriously injured in security force action on demonstrators protesting against killing of another youth, Gowhar Ahmad,” they said.
“The condition of the youth had improved and he was taken off the ventilator. But the youth succumbed today,” a doctor at SKIMS said.
He said the youth might have died due to thromboembolism, obstruction of a blood vessel by a blood clot that has become dislodged from another site in the circulation.
Meanwhile, life came to a grinding halt in parts of Ganderbal against the death of a youth, who succumbed on Sunday morning to injuries incurred in security force action on demonstrators on April 3 in Kangan.
As the news of the death of the youth spread in the district, shopkeepers downed shutters and traffic went off the road in Kangan and adjoining areas in Ganderbal.
Meanwhile, instantaneous protests erupted in the area against death of the youth.
