Internet services continue to remain snapped in Kashmir

As internet services in Kashmir continue to remain snapped for the last more than six months, the Journalists, students, and traders and other people are suffering in absence of the services.
Similarly weavers and artisans have been badly hit due to internet gag as there has been 50% decline reported in export orders from the last more than six months.
The valley journalists are the worst victims of internet blockade and only few systems have been installed for large number of journalists at DIPR office.
A local journalist of Srinagar said that they have wait for several hours to access the internet facility at Dipr office setup by the government “we feel share humiliation.
Another senior journalist said despite their repeate\s plea to govt to restore thebb facility to medaia huses but fell on deaf ears.
Reports also said Over 3000 boys working in different courier services are also sitting idle as their outlets have not functioned since August 5. Due to snapping of internet services, all the e-commerce companies have stopped delivering products to the valley.
The internet and mobile services in the Kashmir valley were suspended hours before the abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir, however was later restored partially but the broadband, mobile internet and in the valley are still shut.
However the government on Saturday claimed that all prepaid mobiles services across the Kashmir valley were resumed and 2G internet services were also restored in two districts of North Kashmir.
The locals of Kupwara and Bandipora however contested the govt claims of restoration internet services. Some people complained that they are not even getting the internet signal.
when contacted to Director Information Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar she said hopefully the broadband services in media houses will be restored within a month.
Sehrsih said she will take up the matter with the higher ups again “it is fact that media men’s are facing problems due to absence of internet ” (KNS)
