Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistani copter enters 300 meters of LoC

In what it could be called as a provocation, a Pakistani helicopter on Wednesday violated the Indian air-space and entered within 300 meters of the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place around 10 in the morning, as per the defence sources.

“It was observed that a Pakistan military helicopter came up to 300 metres of the LoC but then went back,” sources said.

No firing or any other measure was taken by either side. However, the Indian Army denied any such airspace violation by Pakistan.

As per established norms, an Army chopper should not come within one kilometre of the LoC. In case the chopper has to come this close to the LoC, a prior permission needs to be sought.

There has been a spurt in ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, which has left 21 people including 12 security personnel dead and over 75 others, mostly civilians, injured this year.
