The winter capital of the state on Monday sizzled at maximum temperature 43.6 degree Celsius and there is no respite from the prevailing heat wave conditions.
Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, K K Sharma on Sunday also reviewed power and water supply scenario in view of prevailing weather conditions.
The Met Department has forecast rain and lightning, accompanied by gusty wind reaching up to a speed of 30-40 kilometres per hour, for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The prevailing heatwave conditions intensified power and water woes in different parts of the region.
Jammu’s maximum temperature on Monday was 43.6 degrees, which was 3.5 degrees Celsius above normal, while the minimum settled at 27.2 degrees Celsius, 2.1 notches above normal.
Meanwhile, the schools, however, are closed in summer zone of Jammu region for vacations from June 1 to July 16.
People preferred to stay indoors, however, the famous hill stations, like Patnitop, Sanasar, Mantalai, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar also witnessed heavy rush of visitors while people have visiting the neighbouring state, Himachal Pradesh, during the vacations.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine also witnessing heavy rush of pilgrims from across the country in view of summer holidays.
The Government eviewed the functioning of the Power Development Department in Jammu division and called for improving the overall power scenario.
Mr Sharma reviewed the present position of power supply and pace of work on various ongoing projects and stressed on augmentation of power infrastructure, and strengthening of the system so as to provide uninterrupted power supply in the province.
He also took stock of drinking water scenario in Jammu division.
While reviewing the overall drinking water situation in Jammu, the advisor called for taking necessary corrective measures to augment the supply, especially in the Jammu city and dry belt in the periphery.
