The traders in Jammu are feeling the heat of the shutdown in Kashmir as business has come to a halt due to the prevailing curbs.
According to reports, Jammu traders are incurring huge losses and are anxious about the future of their business. Even traders from Rajouri, Poonch and other parts are worried and hope normalcy returns in the region.
Kashmir has been witnessing shutdown since August 5 against the decision of Government of India to annul special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Uneasy calm prevails in Valley while in Kargil as well people resented the Centres move. In Jammu there are people who are opposing the New Delhi’s decision.
In Pir Panchal, shutdown and communication blockade crippled life as well. The voices of dissent in Jammu are languishing in detention centres.
Some top political leaders from Jammu as is the case in Kashmir have either been put under house arrest or detained in police stations.
Reports said the trader community in Jammu from past one month has incurred massive losses to the tune of Rs over Rs 600 Crores. The business of Jammu wholesale dealers has been badly hit as they are unable to do business with the traders from Kashmir. Reports added that business of these whole sale dealers have drastically come down to 70 percent. They are likely to suffer more if shutdown continues in Kashmir Valley.(KNT)
