JK Sports Council Most Active In the Entire Country: Kirren Rijiju

Lays Foundation to Arun Jaitley Memorial Sports Complex at Heeranagar

Union Sports Minister Kirren Rijiju was all in praise to Sports Council of Jammu and Kashmir on the ocassion of foundation laying ceremony of a Multipurpose Sports Complex being setup at Heeranagar of Jammu division on Sunday.
Rijiju addressing the participants to the ceremony through video conferencing remarked that the Multipurpose Sports Complex being setup in the memory of Late Arun Jaitley - Arun Jaitley Memorial Sports Complex - "will not be only one of the best in Jammu and Kashmir but in the entire country."
"We owe to give a chance to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir", Rijiju said adding "Our government under the leadership of Narendra Modi is giving much impetus to the sports activities and are reaching every district and block in Jammu and Kashmir."
Hailing the Sports Council - Youth Services and Sports - as one of the active sports council in the country, Rijiju said that "Anywhere in the country where we have setup sports councils, the most active of them is that of Jammu and Kashmir."
"All the department employees have been working hard", Rijiju said adding "Sensing this dedication we announced the first of its kind Winter Games to be organised there."
"We started youth games 'Khelo India' then 'Khelo India University Games' and for the first time started 'Khelo India Winter Games' in the country", Rijiju said.
"When we started 'Khelo India Winter Games' in Gulmarg, the sucess rate of it was overwhelming and the overall impact of these games which was seen in the locals was great", Rijiju added.(GNS)
