J&K youth can change future course by ‘Sports Ki Karamat & Taleem Ki Taqat’: Rajnath

Asserting that many sporting talents have been lost in the dark for many years in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the youth of the state can change the future course and their own fate through ‘Sports Ki Karamat and Taleem Ki Taqat’.
“I believe that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir can change the future course and their own fate through Sports Ki Karamat and Taleem Ki Taqat,” Mr Singh said while addressing a sports conclave in S K Indoor Stadium on this first day of his two-day visit to the state.
“Many sporting talents have been lost in the dark for many years in this state. Now we are giving opportunities to the youth and sporting talents of the state,” he said.
Mr Singh said, “We are proud of these achievers who have not only made the state of J&K proud but also the entire nation proud with their achievements. I congratulate all the achievers of the state.”
The Home Minister felicitated prominent sports personalities, including cricketers Parvez Rasool and Manzoor Ahmad, and football player Mehrajuddin Wadoo.
He also felicitated gymnasts Palak Kaur and Bavleen Kaur along with members of the Real Kashmir Football Club during the function.
Mr Singh said the Centre had decided to withdraw cases against those ‘misled into stone pelting’ as it was concerned about the future of the youth. “We understand that it is easy to mislead children and some youth were misled into stone pelting. But, we believe that children anywhere are the same. Children can make mistakes… That is why we decided to withdraw the cases against those children who were involved in stone pelting,” he said.
Appealing to the youth not to tread the path of destruction, he said the Centre and the state government had initiated several schemes to help them secure their future. “I want to appeal to the youth that they should not take the path of destruction. If they get to decide, they should always take the path of development and refrain from violence. If they take the path of development no power in the world can stop you from moving ahead in life,” he added.
Watching such a huge crowed of youth in this stadium, Mr said he had no doubts that sun will again rise in the valley.
“I have visited Kashmir valley many, but it is for the first time that I’m seen this… This is for the first time in my life that I have seen such a huge crowd. The stadium is full of positive energy. I think these kids with such positive energy can not only change the future of J&K, but rest of the country,” he said.
As far as sports is concerned, it help in canalizing energy and competitiveness. I would like to congratulate Waheed-Ul-Rehmaan Para, Secretary Sports Council for organizing this event.
