Jammu and Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) on Friday expressed shock and anguish over the locking of office of a local news agency “ Kashmir News Service” (KNS) by the Estate Department in Srinagar.
The Executive Members of JKPA have expressed great shock and anguish over the highhandedness of the officials of the Estates Department Kashmir, who have reportedly locked the office of the well reputed News Agency without any advance notice.
The members are aghast over the attitude of the officials of the Estate department, especially when Media Houses have been braving all hardships after the outbreak of Coronavirus Pandemic, a press release issued by the association this evening.
It said the role of the KNS has been superb in the day to day to dissemination of information to general public about the methods and measures against the pandemic. JKPA said besides the Agency has proved to be the frontline warrior like Healthcare workers and as such closure the News Agency tantamounts to the muzzling of the Press and hence the JKPA demands immediate unlocking of the office to allow the Journalists to perform their professional obligations without any curbs.
