HRD Secretary Amit Khare on Monday held a meeting with JNU authorities including Pro-VC Prof. Chintamani Mahapatra over the violence that took place last evening when a group of unidentified masked goons attacked students inside the University campus and in hostels wherein JNUSU president, general secretary and more than 20 students got injured.
Alongwith Prof Mahapatra, JNU Registrar Dr. Promod Kumar, Prof. Rana Pratap Singh (Rector III) and JNU Proctor Prof. Dhananjay Singh were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, JNU proctor appealed students to not leave campus and said measures are being taken to normalise situation.
Mr Singh also said that it is very unfortunate that there has been unabated violence in the University.
"We had a very good meeting today with the secretary of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Efforts are on to normalise the university," he said.
