JRL calls for Lal Chowk march on May 19 to protest Modi’s Kashmir visit

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for ‘Lal Chowk chalo’ on Saturday, May 19 to protest the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jammu and Kashmir.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir on May 19.
JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik on Tuesday appealed people to march towards the historic Lal Chowk on Saturday to protest the PM’s visit.
The leaders, in a statement, also called for a shutdown on May 21 on the anniversaries of Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq, Abdul Gani Lone and martyrs of Hawal massacre. “A grand rally will be organised on the day to pay tributes to the martyrs at Eidgah,” they said.
In a statement issued here, JRL said that in an extra ordinary meeting the leaders strongly condemned the “atrocities committed against people throughout the Kashmir,” the JRL said and added that proposed visit of Indian premier is aimed at to hoodwink the opinion of international community.
JRl, in its statement said, that though Indian state and its abettors in Jammu Kashmir have put almost all the leadership either in jails or under house arrest, but despite these oppressive tactics and use of police and military might, JRL will stage a peaceful protest on May 19.
“JRL said that forcing silence of a graveyard by using military might and designating it as peace can only be termed as foolishness and if Indian rulers and their abettors really believe in democracy and freedom of speech, they should stop their oppressive tactics and allow JRL to hold this peaceful protest,” it said.
JRL leaders said a “fascist government in power, is trying to paint their wrong doings and killings and arranging these patch works and visits of their masters and added it is their ploy to give wrong impression of brutal pacification of Kashmir as peace and return of normalcy.”
“JRL leaders said that Lal Chowk Chalo has been called to demonstrate before the whole world what people of Kashmir stand for. “If Indian rulers assume that oppression unleashed by their army and forces has crushed resistance in Kashmir, then they should find some courage to lift ban on political activities of the resistance camp and allow such programs,” JRL said in a statement.
“India and its stooges only know to suppress people’s voices under the pretext of so-called democracy and normalcy which is highly condemnable,” it added.
The leadership decided to form a six member committee so that a mechanisms for public participation in getting ideas and inputs and in decision making and implementation will be created, statement said.
“All segments of public including writers’ intellectuals, traders, chambers of commerce, transporters teachers lawyers, doctors’ students activists will be made a part of the broad based mechanism.”
The leadership will put forth its views and ideas that have been deliberated upon and during discussions with them will take their inputs.
“A consensus on the course and implementation will be jointly taken and the public informed. The public has to prepare itself to follow the programs in letter and spirit. The situation is grave, the road is long and tough .But our courage and determination unwavering. Together with unity and steadfastness inshallah victory will be ours,” it added.
