Two girls from Kashmir won medals at the six day long 19th National Wushu championship that concluded on 30th November at SAI sports centre ,Kolkatta,West Bengal.
As many as 1250 boys and girls from across the country participated in this championship from 25th Nov to 30th Nov 2019.
KAIFA SHAH(13) and ALIZA SHAH(10) , popularly known as shah sisters ,being trained at Sheri Kashmir Indoor stadium and studying at Presentation convent higher secondary school,were the only medal winners for the J&K. Both sisters are all praise for their mentor Mr Kuldeep Handoo ji chief coach of India (Wushu) District secretary Mr Maqsood Ahmad Dar Mr Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar (Manager SK Indoor sports stadium),Principal Presentation Convent Higher secondary school(Rajbagh) for her all out support and coaches Mr Rameez Ahmad,Aijaz Hassan, Mr Irfan ,Ms Ashi for their immense
support and training.
Kaifa and Aliza shah ,who hail from Srinagar and studying at Presentation convent School,Rajbagh are playing this game since 2015.They recall that their papa ,who is an Engineer by profession was willing to admit both of them in Badminton game at indoor stadium but we convinced him for the Wushu .We have seen many coaches since our admission into this game but the trio of coaches,Mr Rameez sir,Mr Aijaz sir and Mr Irfan sir, who are presently coaching us are the best.We balance our studies and sports activities very well and are good in studies too,said Kaifa shah.when one plays any martial art game whether it is Wushu,judo or any other martial art game he or she becomes confident and can defend him /herself said Aliza who is the younger one of them.According to Kaifa she wants to become an IPS Officer whereas Aliza wants to become an IAS officer.
