Kashmir ‘big cow’ for BJP: Congress

Mir questions Amit Shah’s peace claims

October 16, 2019 | BK NEWS DESK/SRINAGAR

Congress on Tuesday ridiculed the remarks of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and said Jammu and Kashmir has become a big cow for BJP who fetches unlimited milk from her at the times of elections in the country. It said BJP initially duped masses regarding demonetization and had said it will break the backbone of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir but things are apparent before everyone and it is using Article 370 for political gains.
Congress state chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir ridiculed the remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah while in a conversation with national news channel. Amit Shah had stated that only three mainstream political leaders have been taken into ‘preventive custody’ after abrogation of Article 370. He had said that situation in Jammu and Kashmir is comprehensively peaceful and it was Article 370 due to which forty-thousand people have lost their lives.
Mir said that BJP is acting like it has ‘secret knowledge’. “If BJP is claiming that only three political leaders have been taken into ‘preventive custody’, then it may have ‘secret knowledge’. Not only three but hundreds of mainstream political leaders including Congress chief was detained instantly after Shah’s BJP abrogated Article 370”, he said .
Congress chief questioned Amit Shah that “Under which law these political leaders have been taken into custody? What Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated, it should have come to fore erstwhile when authorities announced schedule of Block Development Council (BDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir. That moment mainstream political parties urged authorities to allow them for carrying out political activities, but no one paid attention to our pleas”.
He said after seventy-three days of uncertainty, Amit Shah has shot arrow from thousands of miles away from Jammu and Kashmir. Shah termed it ‘unfair’ and ‘unacceptable’.
G A Mir said that BJP earlier befooled countrymen regarding demonetization and had said that it will break the backbone of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir but Pulwama attack exposed the claims of BJP.
To a question about abrogation of Article 370, Mir said, that Kashmir has become a big cow for BJP who fetches unlimited milk from her at the times of elections in the country. “Maharastra is going for polls in coming days and to ensure a big win there, BJP is using Kashmir card. Kashmir has become a cow for BJP who fetches unlimited milk from her at the time of elections in the country”, Mir said.
Congress too seeks peace in J&K but if BJP termed past seventy-two uncertain days as peaceful, it is ‘unacceptable’ for us. “Peace is nowhere in Jammu and Kashmir. Education has been badly affected, even a kid of class nursery is unable to attend school”, Mir added.
Congress state chief G A Mir questioned “What kind of peace is talking Amit Shah? BJP is dictating terms which is unacceptable not only for Congress for the entire countrymen”. (KNS)
