Kashmir Conundrum

The government of Jammu and Kashmir is spending enormous amount on the publicity and other road shows to attract tourism influx to the restive Kashmir. However there is an increasing fear among the tourists as well as the locals as far as the situation here is concerned. No could really comment on the deceptive calm prevailing across the State. With each passing day, the government is turning skeptical about its own administrative acumen to control the law and order. The south Kashmir has been on boil with the killing of innocent locals and the militants in the several encounters that took place in recent months. Whenever any encounter takes place the police and army face hardships not to deal with the militant groups but to control the growing number of youth swallowing on the encounter sites. This has changed the Kashmir story. Earlier people, especially youth who were afraid of curfews, hartlals or encounters are now showing up the encounter sites and coming in droves to support militants and the idea of militancy. Recently Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) has lauded the militants for carrying out the attack on Police force, saying that the “Martyrdom of militants won’t go waste and unpaid.” Kashmir is witnessing surge in militancy and this time the new age Militants are proving more deadly and devastating for the State apparatus. The Jammu and Kashmir police is finding it extremely difficult to keep eye on the new-media technology, giving popularity to the new age Militants. Post Hizb Commander and popular local militant, Burhan Wani’s killing, many youth have joined the militant ranks, especially from the South Kashmir. The leaders said the authorities have choked their voice. Some of them believe one hand, they are hatching conspiracies and on the other are employing all their repressive measures and military might to sabotage the movement. However, all political and militant factions have decided to remain united. While it is a fact the separatist leadership was successful in waving off the label terminology of hardliners and moderate, “and unified nation on one point program of freedom from forced occupation. Political and militant leadership must remain fully aware about all odds. The State government on one site is minimizing their activities by pushing them under house arrest, the separatists have urged youth to learn much more from senior leadership and we all need to go hand in hand and work together to achieve our mission.
