Archit Mahajan slammed an unbeaten 102 from 82 balls and took 3 wickets as Krishnanjali Cricket Club defeated Vishal Cricket Club by 39 runs in the semi final match of the K.C T-20 under 19 Cricket Tournament being played at K C Sports Stadium, Jammu.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss Krishananjali had a nightmarish start as their top order suffered a house of cards like collapse. Coming in at no 7, Archit’s magnificent inning laced with 5 boundaries and 6 skyrocketing maximums helped Krishananjali post 244 runs on the board after they had been restricted to 68-5 after 13 overs. Marsh (27), Smarpit (26) and Prabjot (24) were the other notable contributors to the Krishananjali total.
Aryan from Vishal CC was the wrecker - in -chief who picked 4 wickets to dismantle Krishananjali top order. Nityam, Ishank, Musaif, Marutvan & Sharmak shared wicket apiece .
Chasing a mammoth 244 for victory, Vishal CC were bowled out for 205 with four overs spare thanks to a superb effort with the ball by Krishnanjali bowlers spearheaded by Archit and Sanoop.
Vishal CC were limping at 16-2 in four overs when opener Rohan (34 runs) and Musaif (56 runs) joined forces in the 4th over itself. Both the batters got a decent start as the duo knitted a gritty 83 runs partnership but failed to capitalise as Vishal CC middle order could not rise to the occasion as Vishal CC were rendered 107-6 as they lost four wickets in consecutive overs soon after the partnership ended. Marutvan (34 not out) and Harnam (45) showed intent for a comeback but they were left too big a target to climb.
Archit and Sanoop picked 3 wickets each to ensure Krishananjali a comfortable victory whereas Gourav also took 2 wickets.
For his outstanding all round performance Archit Mahajan (unbeaten 102 and 3 wickets) was declared as player of the match.
