The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) delegation led by President Javid Ahmad Tenga held a 2- hour long meeting with the Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain at Police Headquarters, Srinagar, on Tuesday.
The Addl. Director General of Police (Headquarters ) M.K. Sinha and the Inspector General of Police (Traffic ) B.S. Tuti were present in the meeting.
The KCCI team who participated in deliberations included Mushtaq Chaya, Faiz Bakshi, Umar Tibetbaqal, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Gowhar Maqbool, Mauzam Bakshi, Rauf Tramboo, Nasir Shah, Manzoor Wangnoo, Showkat Pakhtoon, Mohammed Arif, Noor Mohammad Shangloo, Suhail Jan, Farooq Kuthoo, Mohammad Ibrahim Siah, Sameer Baktoo, , Farooq Hafiz, Mukhtar Ahmad (Jaan) & Syed Mohammad Afaq Qadri.
The issues requiring the attention of the Government in general and the Police Department in particular were discussed threadbare.
The issues discussed included the renewal of tourism registration licenses has become a critical issue for hospitality , restaurants and travel trade sectors. The renewals take months and years for getting renewed due to their linkage with NOC’s from many Departments like Fire & Emergency Services, Pollution Control Committee, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Local Bodies , Police Department for the issue of Character Certificate etc. These Departments, inter se, surprisingly demand NOC’S from other Departments thereby making a simple renewal matter a cumbersome process. This defeats the very purpose of much avowed Hon’ble Prime Minister’s policy of “Ease of Doing Business and Single Window system” , more so, with the UT Government having put more than 1000 services on On-Line mode.
The KCCI suggested that the renewals be made in time bound manner , independent of the NOCs from other Departments. The respective Departments have a mechanism in place to seek compliance of the applicable laws.
The steady growth in tourist footfall having increased pressure on a few tourist destinations , The KCCI suggested that the newly Identified Tourist Destinations be developed on Fast Track as per approved Master Plans. This will help in development of new areas , sustainable tourism and creating job opportunities. The new tourist destinations be developed in a planned and organised manner taking in consideration Carrying Capacity, Environmental Impact Assessment and climate change/Global warming concerns. This is important for sustainable development of tourism and conservation of natural resources which is our USP.
