Khadi exhibition cum sale concludes

A month long national level Khadi “Exhibition cum Sale” of Khadi & Village Industries products concluded here today at Kashmir Haat.
The exhibition was organized by J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board.
Presided over by Vice Chairman Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi, the valedictory function was attended by Secretary/CEO, KVIB CEO, Mir Afroz, Deputy CEO, Kashmir Division, Rashid Ahmad Qadri, Depty CEO, KIVB, Muzzaffar Alaqaband, officers from KVIC and Chairman Khadi Federation.
The exhibition inaugurated by Union Minister, MSME Kalraj Mishra saw 200 entrepreneurs putting their products on display in it.
The objective of the exhibition was to promote traditional handicrafts for the sustainable livelihood of poor and marginalized people. Artisans from far flung States of the areas like, Jaipur, Chattisgarh, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pardesh, Kolkatta, Kerala, Karnatka, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Punjab exhibited their products like, embroidery shawls, crewel embroidery, basholi pashmina shawls readymade garments, Food products, Herbal Medicines Electricals and Electronic appliances, Cricket bats, copper Utensils, Jewellry and leather items etc. in the exhibition.
Mr. Afroz Mir, disclosed that a record sale of about Rs. 2 crore has been registered during the exhibition. He said that such exhibitions provide a platform to the entrepreneurs to liquidate their surplus production. Later the Vice Chairman gave away the trophies to the stall holders who were ranked at Ist 2nd and 3rd in displaying their products and registering highest sale.
