KU admin works two days a week, allege students

October 05, 2019 | BK NEWS DESK/SRINAGAR

As the classwork remains suspended at the Kashmir University, the Varsity administration is allegedly working only two- half days in a week causing huge inconvenience to the students who intend to get their document related issues settled.
In these circumstances, the Varsity’s top authorities not only allegedly mislead the government but also mislead the students about its functioning.
“I came from Sopore to get No Objection Certificate (NoC) form the University, but I was told to come either on Monday or Thursday that too in the first half of the day,” an MBBS student said, adding, he fears losing of a resident job he was offered in Delhi in case he failed to submit the documents in time.
Similarly, an elderly woman was pleading before the authorities to accept her daughter’s form, which the authorities had refused by citing a reason that she came after 12 noon, and they (KU employees) work only up to 12 pm only.
Saqib Majeed, a student from Barzulla area of Srinagar had applied for a duplicate certificate, but had to return empty hands after authorities cited him the same reason.
“I approached Farooq Ahmad, Controller Examination, KU and explained my helplessness, but that didn’t work,” Majeed said.
He said: “When I asked him that was this an official order to work only up to 12 pm, he replied “whatever you understand””.
However, Ahmad told him that several employees do not reach office on time due to non-availability of public transport on roads. He was also told that those employees who manage to reach on time, they have to leave earlier to reach their homes on time.
Students also alleged that the Varsity authorities have also directed to KU’s Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch to accept fee up to 12 pm. “J&K Bank also accept fee only up to 12 pm, after that no one listens there,” the distressed students said .
