Ladakh admin refutes reports of death of man due to Coronavirus

Refuting reports about the death of a man and detection of two more cases in the border town of Leh, the administration of newly created Union Territory of Ladakh on Friday said that the patients or their family members have no history of travelling abroad.

 

“A 52-year-old male patient from village Phyang admitted on January 27 with cough, breathlessness and fever. A case of pulmonary tuberculosis…. There was no travel history of patient and family members outside Ladakh,” the Director Health Service Ladakh in a statement issued here said on Friday.

 

He said the patient expired on February 5, 2020.

 

“A 55-year-old male patient from Achinathang village admitted on February 11 had acute respiratory distress syndrome,” he said, adding there was no travel history of patient and family members outside Ladakh.

 

He said Oxygen saturation level was continuously low in the patient, who was referred to Delhi on Friday.

 

He said the third patient, a 36-year-old male, came to hospital on February 14 with diarrhea and vomiting. “The patient was admitted on February 17 with pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome,” he said.

 

He said the patient came back from Bihar and south India. “The patient had the same problem in Bihar two months back and got relieved on treatment. On arrival at Leh, he against developed the same symptoms. Patient is stable and his vitals are within normal limits. He has been put in isolation ward,” he added.
