Asserting that COVID-19 response is a collective fight, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary on Friday said ‘let our usual prejudices not mar the concerted response against the pandemic’.
The Srinagar DC said everyone – doctors, engineers, journalists, government employees or any citizen – is contributing to the fight against the infection. “One also contributes by staying indoors,” he added.
Dr Choudhary further said that constructive engagement, trust and faith will help to defeat the pandemic.
“COVID-19 Response is a collective fight.We all contribute to it- Docs,Engrs,Journos, (Gair)Sarkari Mulazim or any Citizen. One also contributes by staying indoors! So, let our "usual prejudices" not mar the concerted response. Constructive engagement, trust & faith will help,” he wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Reacting to a tweet thank the Srinagar DC for his help, he said, “Every acknowledgement encourages the people on ground to do better. Thanks for taking out time. Happens rarely.”
He was reacting to a tweet which reda, “A quarantined cousin of mine after testing negative reached home yesterday, happily. He lives in Rainawari & is a businessman in Goa, was stuck there but u facilitated his and countless others return in earnest. Many thanks to your sincere & strict efforts bro. Thanx again.”
The Srinagar DC said that 620 quarantined returnees testing negative will be shortly leaving for homes, total 3800 so far. “Sadly, 9 more Positive (2 Srinagar). Colleagues putting in their best to ensure all arrivals till today reach home on Eid,” he added.
