Life returns to normal in south Kashmir after restrictions

Life returned to normal on Saturday after remaining crippled due to curfew-like restrictions imposed in most parts of this south Kashmir district on Friday as a precautionary measure to foil rally by separatist organisations.
Internet service which had been suspended in Anantnag and adjacent Kulgam district since on Thursday night to prevent spread of rumours on social media has been restored.
Officials said restrictions under Section 144 CrPC imposed in Anantnag to prevent any law and order problem yesterday have been lifted. There is no road block or naka at any place in south Kashmir today. Additional security forces deployed to strictly implement the restrictions have also been withdrawn.
All roads leading to main Anantnag town were closed with barbed wire to prevent any traffic or pedestrian movement are open. Large number of state police and security forces had been deployed to strictly implement the restrictions, imposed to prevent rally at Lal Chowk, called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwgaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and Mohammad Yaseen Malik.
Shops and business establishments are open and traffic on all routes was plying normally in the district.
Work in government offices, banks and other public sector undertakings, affected yesterday, was also normal.
