February 13, 2021 | BK News Service

Life returned to normal on Friday after remaining affected in summer capital, Srinagar, on Thursday due to strike on the death anniversary of JKLF founder Muhammad Maqbool Bhat who was hanged in Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 11, 1984.

Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and traffic was plying normally in Srinagar and other major towns where life was affected yesterday due to strike.
The historic Jamia Masjid, stronghold of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Umar Frooq, in the down town was also open for devotees today.
The worship place wore a deserted look as both the main gates from Gojawara and Nowhatta were locked yesterday.
Gates are open and Jamia market was also functioning normally. However, HC alleged that Mirwaiz is still under house arrest since August 5, 2019 when centre abrogated Article 370 and divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs).
Business and other activities also resumed in the entire down town, including Nallahmar, Nowhatta, Gojwara, Nawa Kadal and Zainakadal.
Normalcy also returned at historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the summer capital where shops and business establishments are open and traffic was plying normally.
Similarly, business and other activities also resumed in main business hubs of the city, including Hari Singh High Street (HSHS), Budshah Chowk, Maisuma, Regal chowk, Residency road, Batmaloo, Mahraj Bazar and Goni Khan.
Similar situation was witnessed in the uptown where shops are open and traffic is plying normally.
