The 2-day 1st Ladakh Police Taekwondo Tournament, organized by District Police Kargil under Civic Action Programme in collaboration with the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, concluded today at the Badminton Hall in Baroo, Kargil. Over 163 athletes from 13 clubs and schools participated in the event, competing across all age groups.
SAI Centre Kargil lifted the Overall Winners Trophy by securing the highest number of medals, while AITA Kargil was declared the 1st Runner-Up, and Shargole Taekwondo Club took the 2nd Runner-Up Trophy.
SSP Kargil Shree Ram R, was the Chief Guest, along with ASP Nitin Yadav and Dy SP CID Mohd Hussain as Guests of Honour. Syed Mehraj Ud Din Shah, General Secretary of District Kargil Olympic Association, and Anayat Ali, General Secretary of Ladakh Taekwondo Association, were also present, alongside Parveen Kumar, Incharge of SAI Kargil.
SSP Kargil lauded the efforts of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association for their outstanding organization of the tournament and highlighted the impressive participation of over 90 women athletes. He emphasized the growing popularity of Taekwondo in Ladakh, which motivated the District Police to host this tournament under the Civic Action Programme. He assured the association of continued support in their future endeavors to promote Taekwondo in the region, with plans to further engage the youth.
Anayat Ali, General Secretary of Ladakh Taekwondo Association, expressed his heartfelt thanks to SSP Kargil for providing this platform for the players to showcase their talent. He also extended special gratitude to SHO Kargil Kacho Sadat for his commitment and efforts in making the event a grand success.
The tournament concluded with the distribution of medals, certificates, and trophies by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries to the winning teams and players.
