Swift action by the Army today averted what could have been a major fire incident in Chak Kigam village in Kupwara, North Kashmir. As the information reached the Army early morning today about the outbreak of fire in the centre of the village, the Army responded with alacrity and pressed into service its own water bowzers and fire tenders which were soon supplemented by the civil fire tenders. The timely intervention through collective efforts of the Army, Civil Administration of Kashmir and the locals prevented the fire from spreading to the adjoining houses and a Masjid thus averting any major damage or loss.
