Mercury continues to plunge across Kashmir

Mercury continues to drop in Kashmir while Leh region recorded the coldest temperature of minus 6.7 degrees Celsius.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort, recorded a low of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius,” MeT officials said here.
The previous night, the minimum temperature was minus 4.6 degrees Celsius.
According to MeT, Kargil recorded the minimum temperature of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius.
In Pahalgam and Kupwara, the mercury was above the freezing point.
Srinagar recorded a low of 0.3 degrees Celsius. The weatherman has predicted further drop in night temperatures.
People could be seen buying warm clothes and other heating gadgets from the famous Sunday market in this summer capital, despite a shutdown call given by separatists.
The mercury at world famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir dipped slightly though it was above normal.
Against 0.6 degree recorded yesterday, the night temperature was minus 0.5 degree.
The night temperature at Qazigund gateway to the valley, health resort of Kukrnag and Kupwara in north Kashmir also dipped and settled at 2.2 degree, 0.4 degree and 0.8 degree, respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures at these places were several degrees below normal.
