Militants kill 3 in Akhnoor attack

At least three General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) personnel were killed in an attack on their camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor on Monday.
Militants killed three General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) personnel in Batal area of Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir when they attacked the platoon camp on early hours of Monday morning defense spokesperson said to Brighter Kashmir.
The GREF platoon is located 2 kms from the Line of Control in Akhnoor.The entire has been area cordoned off.
It was a GREF platoon located two kilometres from the Line of Control in Akhnoor. Gun shots were heard near the GREF camp and the area has been cordoned off.
Divulging information about the attack, police official said that suspected militants emerged outside GREF near Battal area of Akhnoor region at around 1:15 am and resorted to indiscriminate firing on the GREF workers staying there. “The gunmen shortly after the attacked managed to escape from the spot, however, reinforcement was called in and a massive search operation was launched to nab the assailants,” he said.
The GREF is the parent cadre force of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) that builds and maintains border roads across India
Meanwhile, opposition National Conference and Congress legislators raked up the issue in the Assembly and
sought response from the government. The lawmakers disrupted the proceedings during Question Hour.
