Block development councilor (BDC) of Khag Budgam was shot dead near his ancestral residence at Dalwash village in the Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday late evening.
A senior police officer said that the BDC chairman Bhupinder Singh left two PSOs in police station khag and left ancestral home alone without informing Station House Officer khag.
Sources said that Singh used to stay at Aloochibagh Srinagar and had gone Khag today. They said that he had contested election independently but was supported by PDP.
Meanwhile, Today at about 1945 hours Budgam Police received information about a terror crime incident in Dalwach area of Khag where militants had fired upon a BDC chairman. Senior police officers reached at the crime spot.
Preliminary investigation revealed that militants fired upon a BDC chairman identified as Bopinder Singh son of Deeraj Singh resident of Dalwach Khag due to which he got injured. He was evacuated to nearby hospital for treatment where he was declared brought dead.
The said BDC chairman was residing with his family at Aloochi bagh Srinagar. Although he was provided 2 PSOs from DPL Budgam but today he went to his ancestral house without his PSOs and without any information to police about his visit.
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on.```
Meanwhile, suspected militants fired upon security forces in main town Pulwama of South Kashmir's Pulwama district on weekday morning.
Official sources said that militants fired upon on security forces in main town Pulwama. However there was no loss of life or injury reported.
