Mother is our first best friend, role model and an important person in our life. For everyone mother is next to God. It is said that God can't be everywhere, so he made mothers to take care of their children and everyone. Mother is a pillar of support to everyone. Being a mother is one of the most important roles women can play. They play huge roles in a child's life, caring for them, nourishing them, loving and teaching them and much more. The way a child develops can be largely attributed to the role that their caregivers play in their lives. So what exactly is role of a mother?
It is to love them, show love by caring, kissing, hugging and all other actions and make them emotionally good and help them to develop and help their brain integrate etc.
So why does a mother love her children?
If you deeply penetrate into a mother's eye, you will come to realise the meaning of unconditional love for her child. Though we all have become pro with words and can exactly convey our emotions, expressing a mother's love is still difficult. For a mother, her child remains the same, even if he turns sixty or becomes a successful person. Mother loves her child in every form, a kid or a man doesn't matter for her. As Allama Iqbal (R A) rightly puts it,
Zindagi Ki Auj-Gahon Se Uter Ate Hain Hum
Sohbat-e-Madir Mein Tifl-e-Sada Reh Jate Hain Hum
Translation: We come down from the pinnacles of life’s towers
And in the company of our mother remain a simple child.
It depicts how loving are mothers. If mothers weren't present, the world would look desolated as when a child faces different phases of his life and difficult situations, it is the mother who comforts him, helps him and gives him the love and tells him at the end that the good prevails always. Whether facing exams, competitions or misery, child always seeks help of his mother and her guidance or support.
For a mother, her child is an open book. She knows him outside and inside and knows him like no other. Whatever he feels, nothing remains hidden from her and she is the best judge of her child's personality and makes sure he is disciplined and treated accordingly also knowing her child's interests and needs, she brings new changes and helps him in overall development. We all need someone to share things during times of turmoil, upheaval and difficulties, especially the emotional ones. What can be better than the arms of a loving and caring mother where all insecurities and problems come to a grinding halt? Mother is the one who is a strong pillar on which a child can depend and strengthen himself. We can never pay back for whatever a mother has done and continues to do for us even when she is going through her own problems and other things as she has to handle household work and her husband as well and even the relation with others.
A mother also risks her life to bring her child into this world. She undergoes a painful experience just to have us that equals to breaking of more than twenty bones and just consider the hunger, dehydration, labour pain and other thingslike anxiety and depression of having a healthy baby etc.
Even religions consider mother as sacred and highest valued person. In Islam the status of mother is of highest level and it is said serving your mother is not only an act of kindness but also rewarded in heaven. It was narrated from Mu'awiyah bin Jahimah As-Sulami, that Jahimah came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said:
"O Messenger of Allah! I want to go out and fight (in Jihad) and I have come to ask your advice." He said: "Do you have a mother?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then stay with her, for Paradise is beneath her feet."
Abu Huraira (R A) in another Hadith reported that a person came to Allah’s Messenger and said: Who among the people is most deserving of a fine treatment from my hand? He said: Your mother. He again said: Then who (is the next one)? He said: Again it is your mother (who deserves the best treatment from you). He said: Then who (is the next one)? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Again, it is your mother. He (again) said: Then who? Thereupon he said: Then it is your father.
In other religions like Christianity and Hinduism, it is said that people should honor and love their mother and mother is the only one person who is considered to be the most exalted and worthy of respect, dignity and service.
"Mother is a walking miracle and the world needs mothers"
No one can pay for a mother's love, care and everything she does and continues to do. What can be done is to reciprocate the same love and care. Though a mother will never ask anything in return for her love and care , a person should make her feel special with small and sweet gestures and give his best always to her as no one can be as charming and good as a mother.
