District level Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) Kishtwar today organised awareness Program on protection for women under the Domestic Violence Act 2005, here at AnganWari Centre Diwaroo A.

The awareness event was held under the overall supervision of District Programme Officer, ICDS Pawan Parihar and the participants included local women Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers.
The MSK team educated the participants about Domestic Violence Act which aims at protecting women from violence in domestic relationships.
In addition to it, they were also sensitized, how and where women can register their case and lodge FIR and what legal proceedings are necessary to seek justice against domestic violence. They were told that it does not include physical violence, but also other forms of violence such as emotional/verbal, sexual, and economic abuse.
Participating women were also made aware about the Women Helpline 181 and One Stop Centre from where they will get first help regarding any kind of violence faced by them
