NC will neither seek support, nor offer it to any party: Omar Abdullah
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the National Conference would neither seek support, nor offer support to any political party in the State in light of BJP withdrawing support from the Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP Government in J&K. Addressing a Press Conference in Srinagar, Mr. Omar Abdullah said the current situation in the State was a collective failure of the Central and the State Government and that restoration of peace and stability in the State was the foremost concern of the National Conference.
The NC Vice President said the party was not happy about the ensuing situation and the recent collapse of the State Government as Governor’s rule was not ideally the most desirable arrangement in a democratic setup. The NC Vice President said the party hoped that peace could be restored in the State and that a congenial and conducive atmosphere created at the earliest to enable the people to choose their Government as per their aspirations.
In response to a question, the National Conference Vice President said the unconditional support offered to PDP in 2014 by the National Conference was a one-time offer made with the intention of safeguarding the interests of the State and that offer had expired the moment PDP allied with the BJP.
Prior to the Press Conference, Mr. Omar Abdullah met Honourable Governor of the State, Mr. N. N. Vohra at Raj Bhawan and assured him of the party’s cooperation in restoring peace in the State.
National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Senior Leader Abdul Rahim Rather, Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, party legislators and leaders were also present in the Press Conference.
