Budgam, June 11: President of the District Bar Association Budgam, Javed Hubi, has strongly condemned the reported misbehavior by police personnel with Senior Advocate Rafi-uz-Zaman Kirmani at Tangmarg.
In a statement issued today, Mr. Hubi described the incident as deeply regrettable and unacceptable, stating that any disrespect shown to a member of the legal fraternity, particularly a senior advocate of distinguished standing, amounts to an affront to the dignity and independence of the Bar.
He emphasized that advocates are essential pillars of the justice delivery system and must be treated with courtesy and respect while discharging their professional obligations. Any conduct that seeks to intimidate, humiliate, or obstruct advocates in the performance of their duties is contrary to the principles of the rule of law and democratic governance.
Mr. Hubi called upon the senior police authorities to conduct a prompt, impartial, and transparent inquiry into the incident and to take appropriate action against those found responsible. He further urged the administration to ensure that such incidents are not repeated and that cordial relations between the Bar and law enforcement agencies are maintained in the larger public interest.
The President reiterated that the District Bar Association Budgam stands firmly with Senior Advocate Rafi-uz-Zaman Kirmani and with the entire legal fraternity in safeguarding the dignity, independence, and honor of the legal profession.
