Northern Commander reviews operational readiness

Bharatpur/Mathura, May 23: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, conducted a comprehensive review of operational preparedness during his visit to the military stations at Bharatpur and Mathura, reaffirming the Indian Army’s continued commitment to maintaining high standards of combat readiness, operational excellence and technological advancement in the prevailing security environment.
During the visit, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma assessed the preparedness of military formations deployed in the region and reviewed multiple operational parameters, including troop readiness, training standards, logistical capabilities and the efficiency of combat support systems. Senior officers briefed the Army Commander on ongoing operational activities, preparedness measures and the mechanisms in place to maintain a constant state of readiness in accordance with evolving security requirements.
Interacting with troops and commanders, the Army Commander appreciated the professionalism, dedication and resilience displayed by officers and soldiers in performing their duties under challenging conditions. He commended the formations for sustaining a high level of operational preparedness and maintaining the finest traditions of military service.
Lt Gen Sharma stressed the importance of continuously enhancing combat effectiveness through realistic training practices and operational adaptability. He highlighted that modern battlefields demand not only physical endurance and tactical expertise but also the integration of advanced technologies and innovative approaches to training and decision-making.
Emphasising the role of technological transformation in defence preparedness, he encouraged formations to adopt emerging capabilities that strengthen operational efficiency and situational awareness. He underlined the growing relevance of technology-enabled learning, advanced communication systems, real-time intelligence support and modern operational planning tools in meeting contemporary security challenges.
The Army Commander also reiterated the importance of institutional professionalism and high morale in ensuring mission readiness. Such field visits by senior military leadership, he noted, remain essential for assessing ground-level preparedness, interacting directly with troops and reinforcing strategic priorities across formations.
The visit reflected the Indian Army’s broader focus on preparedness, innovation and continuous capability enhancement amid an evolving security landscape. Lt Gen Pratik Sharma called upon personnel to sustain excellence, remain adaptable to emerging challenges and uphold the highest standards of operational readiness to safeguard national interests.
