Kupwara, Jan 23: Heavy snowfall in Kralgund village, Qaziabad, damaged the house of Ghulam Ahmad Mir, a specially disabled resident. The weight of accumulated snow weakened the structure, but all family members were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Mir has appealed to the government for immediate financial assistance to rebuild his home. Authorities said a damage assessment will be conducted once weather conditions improve, and relief will be provided as per government norms.

The region has seen widespread snowfall since Thursday, disrupting life and closing major roads, with officials urging residents to remain cautious and report damage.
