SSP Traffic counsel underage riders in Srinagar

January 20, 2026 |

Srinagar, Jan 20: SSP Traffic Srinagar City, Ajaz Ahmad, on Tuesday conducted a special awareness drive targeting underage and reckless drivers on city roads.
During the drive, two minors, including a 14-year-old, were found riding two-wheelers without valid licences and performing unsafe driving practices, including stunts, posing serious risks to themselves and others.
The SSP highlighted that minors lack the maturity and judgment required for safe driving, making underage driving extremely dangerous. He held parents accountable for allowing children to operate vehicles and warned that such negligence can lead to tragic accidents.
Parents of the offenders were counselled on the spot and instructed not to hand over vehicles to minors. Traffic authorities urged all parents in Srinagar to ensure children refrain from driving until legally eligible and properly trained.
Officials said these counselling drives will continue citywide as part of ongoing efforts to promote road safety and prevent accidents involving minors.
