Imphal, Sep 14: Intelligence-based joint operations conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, in coordination with Manipur Police, Mizoram Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), resulted in the apprehension of 12 active cadres and anti-national elements and the recovery of 38 weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores.

The operations were carried out between September 7 and 13, 2026, across several sensitive locations in Manipur and Mizoram, as part of intensified efforts to disrupt armed networks, illicit supply channels and activities posing a threat to security in the region.
According to security officials, coordinated operations were conducted in Churachandpur, Imphal West, Chandel and Thoubal districts of Manipur, besides Aizawl district of Mizoram, based on specific intelligence inputs.
The joint teams focused on identifying and apprehending suspected active cadres and individuals allegedly linked to anti-national activities. A total of 12 persons were apprehended during the week-long operations.
Security forces also succeeded in neutralising illicit supply channels and recovering a substantial quantity of weapons, ammunition and war-like stores. The recovery of 38 items is expected to disrupt the operational capabilities of armed groups and their support networks.
The coordinated action involved close cooperation between the Army, Assam Rifles, state police forces and CAPFs, highlighting the importance of intelligence sharing and inter-agency coordination in tackling security challenges in the Northeast.
The operations covered both urban and remote areas, reflecting the security forces' effort to track networks operating across different terrains and jurisdictions.
Officials said the action forms part of continuing intelligence-led operations aimed at maintaining peace and stability in Manipur and neighbouring areas. Security forces are maintaining heightened vigilance and continuing efforts to identify and dismantle remaining illicit networks.
The apprehended individuals and recovered weapons, ammunition and other stores have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
