17 insurgents nabbed in joint operations in Manipur

March 31, 2026 | BK News Service

Imphal,, Mar 30: Intelligence-based joint operations conducted by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles under Spear Corps, in coordination with Manipur Police, have led to the apprehension of 17 insurgent cadres and the recovery of 17 weapons, explosives, and other war-like stores across multiple districts of Manipur.

The operations, carried out between March 22 and March 28, targeted militant hideouts and networks in both the hill and valley districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Tengnoupal. Authorities said the strikes were planned following credible intelligence inputs about the movement and storage of arms by armed groups operating in the region.
Army and Assam Rifles officials stated that the seized materials included firearms, ammunition, explosive devices, and other equipment used in militant activities. The recovered caches were assessed to have the potential to facilitate attacks on security forces and civilians.
The operations were executed with precision, minimizing risks to local populations while targeting insurgent infrastructure. Security forces emphasized that coordinated action between state police and central forces was key to the success of the missions, demonstrating enhanced synergy in counter-insurgency efforts.
Authorities said further investigations are underway to dismantle the larger networks associated with the apprehended cadres and to track down additional arms caches. The seizures are expected to significantly weaken the operational capabilities of armed groups in Manipur.
Officials highlighted that such proactive and intelligence-driven measures are part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order, prevent militancy, and ensure the safety of citizens in both hill and valley regions of the state.
