2 JeM terrorists killed in Udhampur encounter, OGW arrested

Srinagar, Sept 17: Two terrorists of Jasih-e-Mohammad (JeM) were killed in an encounter with security forces in a forest area of Udhampur on Thursday while a suspected Over Ground Worker (OGW) was arrested during the search operation.

Army in a post on X said army, police and CRPF launched ‘Operation Sohan’ during the intervening night of September 16-17 following confirmed inputs indicating the presence of terrorists in forest area of Brattal, Udhampur.
“Despite hostile weather, difficult terrain and poor visibility, troops of the Army’s White Knight Corps, J&K Police and CRPF launched a targeted counter-terrorism operation, resulting in the killing of two terrorists,” said the Army.
The bodies of the two terrorists were retrieved later from an area with thick vegetation and hilly terrain.
Sources said a suspected OGW was arrested by security forces during the ongoing search operation of the forest area.
They said the security officials were questioning the arrested OGW.
Meanwhile, police identified the slain terrorists as Saddam and Mustafa, both Pakistan nationals belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit.
Police said an AK Assault Rifle (with 4 magazines); M4 Carbine (with 3 magazines); a Glock Pistol (with 2 magazines) and four grenades have been recovered from them.
“You Can Run But You Can't Hide!,” police said in the post on X.
A security official said the search operation in the forest area is going on
“The operation is still in progress, with search and surveillance operations continuing in the area. Security forces remain deployed to track and neutralise any remaining threat,” the Army said.
