2 terrorists killed as Army foils infiltration bid in Keran sector

November 09, 2025 | Ayaan Wani

Two terrorists were killed after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, Army said.

The encounter broke out after troops spotted suspicious movement near the LoC late last night and challenged the infiltrators, who opened indiscriminate fire.
The troops retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
“Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation,” the Army’s Srinagar based Chinar Corps said on X.
Earlier, the Army said troops launched a joint operation based on specific intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration bid in the sector.
“On 07 Nov, based on specific intelligence input from agencies, regarding an infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in the Keran sector of Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged, which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Contact was established and terrorists were trapped,” the Chinar Corps said.
This marks the second infiltration attempt foiled in Kupwara district within a month.
On October 14, two infiltrators were killed in the Machil sector of the district.
Terrorist groups along the LoC often intensify infiltration attempts into Jammu and Kashmir before heavy snowfall closes high-altitude passes, making cross-border movement difficult during the winter months.
