Two terrorists were killed after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt in the Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, the Army said on Thursday.
Acting on specific intelligence provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding a possible infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and J&K Police in the Naushera Nar area along the Line of Control (LoC).
“The troops detected suspicious movement and challenged the infiltrators, who responded with indiscriminate fire,” Army said.
Security forces retaliated swiftly, neutralising two terrorists. The identity and affiliation of the slain militants are yet to be ascertained.
This is the second infiltration attempt foiled in recent days.
Three days ago, a similar bid was thwarted in the Uri sector of Baramulla district after the Army detected movement near the LoC.
Earlier, on August 13, a soldier was killed in the same sector during an exchange of fire.
