20-Kg IED cache recovered, defused in Jiribam

September 07, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Jiribam, Sep 6: Security forces recovered three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing around 20 kg during a joint operation in a jungle area between Leishabithol and Ahamadabad in Jiribam, Manipur.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, formations under the Spear Corps, in close coordination with the Manipur Police, launched a search operation in the suspected area. During the operation, troops detected and recovered three IEDs concealed in the jungle terrain.
The explosives were subsequently neutralised on the spot through controlled demolition, eliminating the potential threat to civilians, security personnel and public property in the area.
The successful recovery and safe disposal of the IEDs prevented a potentially serious security incident and highlighted the importance of timely intelligence and coordinated action in countering threats in vulnerable areas.
The operation also reflected the continued vigilance and operational preparedness of security forces operating in Manipur. Close coordination between the Army and police agencies remains crucial for detecting explosive threats and ensuring the safety of local communities.
The recovery underscores the persistent security challenges posed by concealed explosives in remote and forested areas and the need for sustained surveillance and intelligence-led operations to prevent attacks and protect public life and property.
