
Four persons including three members of a family died when a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident and fell into a deep gorge in Kishtwar district on Saturday.
Police said that a vehicle on its way from Sarthal to Drabshalla met with an accident near Malwan in Sarthal area of Kishtwar and plunged into a 400-foot deep gorge.
Three persons were killed on the spot while a critically injured woman succumbed in the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Ranjeet Singh (35), his wife Jyoti Devi (30), their two-year old daughter, Ashu, and Simran Thakur (21).
All are residents of Dessa, district Doda and had gone to Sarthal Mata Yatra.
Police have taken cognizance and started an investigation.
Prima facie, the driver of the car lost control while negotiating a blind curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and fall into the gorge, police said.
Local volunteers rushed to rescue the victims and found three persons, including a girl, dead on-the-spot.
