Four people, including three tourists from Mumbai were killed and 17 others sustained injuries in a road accident in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday morning, officials said.
The accident occurred near a CRPF camp at Gund when a passenger bus and an Etios vehicle collided head-on, leaving at least 21 people injured.
The Etios car, which was carrying tourists, suffered severe damage, resulting in the death of four occupants, including the driver.
The deceased were identified as Hetal Ashish Pari, Nikki Ashish, and Leisha Ashish, all residents of Satya Nagar, Borivali West, Mumbai. The fourth victim was identified as Faheem Ahmad Badyari of Soiteng, Srinagar, driver of the vehicle.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the tragic road accident.
In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said: “I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of precious lives in a tragic road accident in Ganderbal today. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for the early recovery of the injured”.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic road accident on highway near Gund, Kangan, which has claimed several lives and left many others injured. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the swift recovery of the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance,” office of the chief minister said on X.
