
Rajouri, Nov 4:In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, several school-going children were injured after a minibus met with an accident at Thandikassi near Ziarat Sharief in Rajouri district. According to officials, the minibus bearing registration number JK11-8074 was ferrying students to Rajouri when it skidded off the road and overturned near Thandikassi, causing injuries to a large number of children on board.
Immediately after the accident, local residents, police, and rescue teams reached the spot and launched a swift rescue operation. The injured were promptly shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri for medical treatment. The accident site witnessed scenes of chaos and concern as parents and residents gathered, praying for the safety of the children.
Most of the injured children belong to Thandikassi area of Rajouri, and their ages range from 7 to 18 years. The injured included Mobeen Kosser D/O Mushtaq Haroon (16 years), Mohit S/O Rakesh Kumar (14 years), Rehan Choudhary S/O Mohd Javed (7 years), Saima Kumar D/O Aurengzeb Khan (11 years), Shazia Anjum D/O Mohd Iqbal (13 years), Sakib S/O Mohd Javed (11 years), Nazma Kouser D/O Khaliq Hussain (14 years), Shabnum Kosser D/O Mohd Iqbal (15 years), Sarika Jabeen D/O Mohd Farooq (15 years), Shahid Ahmed S/O Mohd Iqbal (17 years), Sajid Hussain S/O Mohd Farooq (17 years), Khushi Sharma D/O Sukhdev (14 years), Karan Sharma S/O Sukhdev (14 years), Aliza D/O Dil Mohd (15 years), Shiraz Ahmed S/O Mushtaq Hussain (17 years), Sajid Hussain S/O Mohd Javed (12 years), Rabia Kosser D/O Mukhtar Hussain (14 years), and several others from nearby localities including Kakora and Palolian. The driver of the vehicle was also seriously injured in the mishap.
Two of the injured students, Sakib S/O Mohd Javed (11 years) and Aliza D/O Dil Mohd (15 years), were reported to be in critical condition and were airlifted to GMC Jammu for advanced medical treatment. Their condition is being closely monitored by senior doctors.
The Medical Superintendent of GMC Rajouri, Dr. Shamim Ahmed Chowdhary, personally supervised the emergency response and ensured that all necessary medical facilities were made available to the injured. He immediately mobilized hospital staff, directed the emergency department to stay on alert, and arranged for adequate blood units, medicines, and diagnostic support. Dr. Chowdhary also visited each injured child in the emergency ward and assured their families of the best possible care. He expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident and stated that GMC Rajouri is fully equipped to handle such emergencies, reaffirming the hospital’s commitment to providing immediate and quality healthcare services to accident victims.
Dr. Shamim further said that special teams of orthopedic surgeons, pediatricians, and trauma specialists were deputed to attend to the injured students. “We are doing everything possible to ensure their recovery. The hospital administration stands with the affected families in this difficult hour,” he added
