5th Assam Rifles half marathon concludes in Shillong

Imphal, Dec 14: The 5th edition of the Assam Rifles Half Marathon was held today at Laitkor, Shillong, witnessing an enthusiastic participation of over 3,000 runners from across the region. The event, which featured both competitive and fun categories, highlighted the spirit of fitness, discipline, and camaraderie among participants.

Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, lauded the determination and energy of all marathoners, praising the collective effort that made the event a grand success. He also assured that the next edition of the marathon would be even bigger, promising enhanced facilities and wider participation to further promote health and sportsmanship.
Mrs Vibha Lakhera, President of Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA), presided over the award ceremony and presented cash prizes to deserving winners across different categories, recognising outstanding performances and encouraging future participation.
The marathon not only promoted physical fitness but also strengthened community engagement, bringing together armed forces personnel, local residents, and sports enthusiasts in a display of unity, discipline, and sporting excellence. The event concluded with widespread appreciation from participants and organisers, setting high expectations for future editions.
