75th Tithwal day celebration in Karnah*

In commemoration of liberation of Tithwal from armed tribal invaders and Pakistan Army in 1948, the 75th Tithwal Day was celebrated by the Shakti Vijay Brigade of Indian Army and the people of Karnah here at Tithwal today. The celebrations started with the laying of wreaths and paying homage to the combat soldiers and civilians of Karnah (who laid their lives in the service of the nation in 1948) at Tithwal Veer Samarak by Maj Gen Abhijeet S Pendharkar, YSM GOC Vajr Division, Brig SP Consul Commander Shakti Vijay Brigade, officers, Sub Qayuum, President, Ex-serviceman League Karnah and other prominent civilians. In addition homage to the brave hearts was also paid by the Next of Kins of CHM Piru Singh, PVC, Hony Capt Karam Singh, PVC and Lt Col N S Pathania (Son on Lt Col Kaman Singh, MVC).
Thereafter a musical and cultural program was held at Shaan-e-Tithwal stadium wherein Waqar Khan, Nargis Khatoon, Tobassum Wangti, Shining Karnah Band and school children of Army Goodwill Schools performed. Troops also performed on Dogri Naatis and Bhangra. Ceremonial Pipe Band of Gorkhas performed martial tunes during the event. Highlight of the program was breathtaking show on Bullet bikes by Secunderabad based Indian Army’s “Daredevils”.
The cultural event was followed by felicitation of prominent citizens of Karnah, Veer naris, Media personalities and participants. Gen Pendharkar felicitated the next of kins of brave hearts, CHM Piru Singh, PVC Hony Capt Karam Singh, PVC and Lt Col N S Pathania.
Speaking on the occasion, Gen Pendharkar remembered the great sacrifices, valour and determination of all combatants and the civilians of Karnah who played stellar role in liberation of Tithwal. He highlighted the need to maintain peace and tranquility in order to ensure development of Karnah. He praised the people of Karnah for standing tall along with Indian Army in all wars since 1947 and ensuring peace. He assured of all possible measures for development of Karnah.
