
In celebration of the 87th Raising Day of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the 92 Battalion CRPF, Wadoora, Sopore organized a spirited Under-15 Football Tournament from July 25 to 27, 2025. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students from 16 schools across Sopore and Handwara, Jammu & Kashmir.
The tournament was held on the lush sports ground at the headquarters of the 92 BN CRPF and served as a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, foster sportsmanship, and build positive engagement with the security forces.
Commanding Officer Naresh Kumar addressed the participants during the closing ceremony, praising the young players and encouraging them to imbibe discipline and the spirit of teamwork not only in sports but also in life. He appreciated their passion and efforts throughout the competition.
Organized under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) and CRPF Madadgar initiative, the tournament reflected CRPF’s commitment to community outreach and youth development in the Kashmir Valley. Through various CAP activities such as free medical camps, vocational training programs, and the Bharat Darshan Tour under the “Jano Apne Desh Ko” initiative, the CRPF has been instrumental in supporting the region’s underprivileged population. The CRPF Madadgar helpline (Toll-free No. 14411) continues to serve as a vital support system for those in need.
After three days of intense matches, the football team of Government Higher Secondary School Hadipora emerged as the winner. Trophies were awarded to both the winning and runner-up teams. Individual awards were also presented to the Best Player and Best Goalkeeper of the tournament. Additionally, football kits were distributed among the eight teams that qualified for the quarter-finals, while every participant received a football and a certificate of participation as a token of appreciation.
The closing ceremony was graced by Commandant Naresh Kumar, officers of 92 BN, and the principals of the participating schools. Assistant Commandant Sudhir Sonavale expressed his gratitude to the Commandant for initiating such a noble effort and extended thanks to all teams for their enthusiastic participation.
The tournament underscored CRPF’s continued efforts to promote constructive youth engagement and strengthen community relations through sports and service.
