The examination process itself reinforced my confidence in the institution. The written examination was conducted with complete transparency and discipline. The standard of the question paper was undoubtedly high
For the second time in my life, I had the privilege of appearing in a prestigious competitive examination conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC). Like countless aspirants across the Union Territory, I entered the examination hall with hope, determination, and faith. Today, after successfully qualifying for a gazetted post, I feel compelled to share my personal experience and reflections on an institution that has earned immense respect for its credibility, transparency, and commitment to merit.
JKPSC has long been regarded as one of the most trusted recruitment agencies in Jammu and Kashmir. Over the years, it has built a reputation for conducting examinations in a fair, transparent, and professional manner. Before appearing in these examinations, I often heard inspiring stories of candidates from humble and economically weaker backgrounds securing prestigious positions through sheer hard work and dedication. These stories convinced me that JKPSC remains an institution where merit prevails over influence, nepotism, or favoritism.
My own journey stands as a testimony to this belief. I belong to a poor farming family with limited resources and opportunities. Despite numerous challenges, I appeared in two JKPSC examinations. In the second examination, I was fortunate enough to secure selection as a Plus Two Lecturer. For a candidate like me, coming from a modest rural background, this achievement is not merely a professional success; it is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.
The examination process itself reinforced my confidence in the institution. The written examination was conducted with complete transparency and discipline. The standard of the question paper was undoubtedly high. Many candidates described it as tough and lengthy, and I too felt the same. However, competitive examinations are designed to assess not only knowledge but also analytical ability, time management, and perseverance.
Following the examination, the answer key was published in accordance with established procedures, allowing candidates to assess their performance objectively. Based on my calculations, I found myself eligible for the interview stage. This transparent process strengthened my trust in the system.
Particularly commendable is the conduct of the viva voce. JKPSC invites subject experts from various universities and academic institutions, ensuring that the interview process remains impartial and free from external influence. These experts generally have no personal connections with the candidates, which further enhances the credibility of the selection process. Such measures demonstrate the Commission's unwavering commitment to fairness.
While hard work undoubtedly played an important role in my success, I firmly believe that faith and divine guidance were equally significant. At a stage when I was nearing the upper age limit, I often felt discouraged. Yet Almighty Allah gave me the strength to continue. He inspired me to spend long hours in libraries, collect study material, revise extensively, and remain focused despite uncertainties. During the examination, many of the topics I had prepared thoroughly appeared in the paper. There were also questions about which I had limited knowledge, forcing me to take calculated risks. Looking back, I realize that success was not solely the result of my efforts but also the mercy and guidance of Almighty Allah.
My selection carries special significance for my family. My father, a farmer, always cherished one simple dream, that at least one of his children would secure a gazetted post. Three brothers from our family appeared in prestigious competitive examinations. My younger brothers, despite their sincere efforts, could not make it to the shortlist this time. Yet, instead of disappointment, they expressed happiness and pride at my success. More importantly, this achievement has motivated them to work even harder for their own goals.
The impact of this selection extends beyond my family. Our village is well aware of our modest economic circumstances. We possess no extraordinary assets or advantages. Therefore, my success has become a source of encouragement for many young people who often feel that financial limitations can prevent them from achieving their aspirations. It has reinforced the belief that through merit, perseverance, and a transparent recruitment system, even the most ordinary individuals can realize extraordinary dreams.
As I reflect upon this journey, I remain deeply grateful. First and foremost, I thank Almighty Allah, who accepted the sincere prayers of my parents, my spouse, my family members, relatives, friends, and well-wishers. Their prayers and support sustained me during moments of doubt and difficulty.
At the same time, I extend my appreciation to JKPSC for maintaining a recruitment process founded upon transparency, fairness, and merit. Institutions such as JKPSC play a vital role in strengthening public confidence and ensuring that deserving candidates receive opportunities based solely on their capabilities.
My experience has convinced me that when faith, hard work, and an honest system come together, success becomes possible regardless of one's social or economic background. I hope my journey serves as a message of hope to thousands of aspirants who continue to prepare for competitive examinations. Dreams do come true, and merit still matters.
