The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of disproportionate assets against Malik Tahir Gani, currently serving as Director of State Motor Garages (SMG), Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an ACB spokesperson, the case follows a secret verification based on a specific input alleging that Gani had amassed substantial assets—plots, houses, shops, shopping complexes, and bank accounts—both in his name and in those of family members and relatives, far exceeding his known sources of income during his tenure in various postings including ARTO Anantnag, Pulwama, and Director SMG.
A prima facie case of criminal misconduct under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was found, leading to the registration of FIR No. 11/2025 at ACB Central, Srinagar.
Search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Jammu, were executed at four locations, including Gani’s residential houses at Sanat Nagar and Hyderpora, his official quarter at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, and SMG offices at New Plot, Jammu.
During the searches, incriminating material was recovered and seized as evidence. The ACB confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
