Ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning July 3, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the National Security Guard (NSG) conducted a week-long joint training exercise titled “Shakti Sangam” in Jammu.
The exercise, held from June 8 to 13 at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar—the main base camp for pilgrims—focused on strengthening coordination and preparedness for the 57-day pilgrimage.
Personnel were trained in hostage rescue operations, counter-drone measures, bomb disposal handling, night operations, and live firing drills. Scenario-based exercises were also conducted to improve real-time response during emergencies.
Officials said the exercise enhanced interoperability between the two forces and ensured readiness to deal with evolving security challenges during the Yatra.
