
Srinagar, Jan 24:Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, a full-scale dress rehearsal was conducted at Bakshi Stadium on Friday to review final arrangements.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, while speaking on the occasion, said that students from various educational institutions participated in the rehearsal and showcased disciplined marching and coordinated performances. He urged local residents to actively participate in the Republic Day celebrations and join the national festivities in large numbers.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar Birdi, later told media that all arrangements for Republic Day have been put in place. He said that comprehensive and multi-layered security arrangements are already in position to ensure smooth, peaceful and incident-free celebrations.
The dress rehearsal saw participation from school students, security personnel and other contingents, who carried out ceremonial drills and parade practice. Officials said the exercise was aimed at assessing coordination among departments and finalising logistical and security measures ahead of the main event scheduled for January 26.
Authorities reiterated that the Republic Day function will be conducted in a dignified and inclusive manner, reflecting national pride and public participation.
