The decision comes after the Jammu and Kashmir Government issued an order increasing the monthly stipend for MBBS and BDS interns, including Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs), from Rs 12,300 to Rs 25,000, effective October 1, 2026.
AIMSA expressed gratitude to political leaders, bureaucrats and others who supported the interns during their agitation for an increase in monthly remuneration.
The association termed the outcome a collective achievement, crediting the interns for their unity and determination in pursuing their demand.
The interns had been protesting across Government Medical Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir and SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, insisting that the agitation would continue until the government issued a formal written order confirming the revised stipend.
With the government now issuing the order and AIMSA announcing the withdrawal of the strike, the agitation over the stipend hike has come to an end.
